Fun in Action

Every parent in preschool has a job - that's the way co-op works.  Our (really Mike's) job is Safety officer, which entails overseeing the fire drills, earthquake drills, making sure smoke detectors work, etc.  Another guy's job is photographer.  Here's a selection to give you a taste of what Bryn's preschool day is like...

Playing puzzles

Coloring

Pushing dolly in a stroller

Building bugs with buddy Matteo

Giving dolly some medicine

Climbing

Helping friends up to the climbing boxes

Painting at the easel with buddy Hannah

Singing and dancing during music time with Teacher Dori

Singing time with best buddies at preschool, Matteo and Maya

More singing time fun

Listening to Teacher Dori during story time

More story time

Still more story time

Hmm.  Bryn, I think you are supposed to sit on your blue cushion during story time...

Story time with Matteo, his mommy Juile, and Maya

Row, Row, Row your boat with Julie, Ainsley (and her mom Rhonda), Rye (and her mom Robin) and Maya

Singing time fun!!

Blue streak

Bryn has had her ups and downs with language.  For a long time, she dropped the "F-bomb" like a sailor.  My favorite story to tell is the time we were in a Costco parking lot, and someone across the way honked their horn.  Bryn hardly looked up from the toy she was playing with and said "F**cking A**hole".  Mike and I were shocked into silence and make a little resolution then and there to clean up our driving language.  After a few weeks of gentle correction and replacement, the F-bomb disappeared.

Today, I was putting a cleaning disk in the toilet tank when Bryn came in.  She saw the top of the tank in the bathtub and me with a focused look on my face and said "Oh, Dammit Mommy, why did you do that?"  Awesome.

I am learning (yet again) that kids are not only just like sponges, they also resemble tape recorders.  And not necessarily in a fun way.

Back to my best behavior!!

Bouncy Fun

It was hard to get a good action shot of Gabs in her bouncer. She was going crazy! These stills will have to suffice until I figure out how to post videos on Blogger.

Bryn lined up Elephant and Teddy Bear on a great big pillow to read them a story for their nap time.

Learning to Eat

Gabs has been a real stinker about taking a bottle. So much so, that she actually goes on hunger strike the entire time I am away from her. Not terrible if I'm just taking a shower, or running to the store, but it's pretty awful when it's a full 8-hour day at work. It has made life so miserable for Mike and Bryn when they are home with her, that I decided to take a leave of absence from my job to help her learn to eat from a source other than me. She's not too pleased about it. We spent a little time with a Physical Therapist to see if she had any awesome tricks that I haven't tried, but to no avail. So, we are doing it the old-fashioned way, which means messy, messy, messy!

Of course the pictures are adorable...
It seems like each spoonful of cereal takes at least 4 tries to get down her mouth. The camera is much more interesting than the food...

Bryn is showing Gabs how to open wide, take a bite, and chew, chew, swallow!

Nope. Still not happening. Where does she come by this stubborn streak? :)

Halloween costume idea

I asked Bryn tonight what she wanted to be for Halloween.  Then it occurred to me that she had no idea what Halloween was, let alone what she'd want to be.  So I rephrased the question.  I said "Bryn, if you could dress up like anything in the whole world, what would it be?"

Her answer?  "Big girl panties."

Hmm.
